While standing outside the Capitol amidst protesters, the MacIver Institute’s Bill Osmulski was singled out, surrounded, and confronted by protesters after the Senate passed a bill on collective bargaining. They broke off after fellow protesters opened the building’s doors from the inside.

In a public forum last night, someone finally asked Newt Gingrich the question that’s been on everyone’s mind for years now:

Newt Gingrich’s speech at the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday quickly took a turn for the dramatic when the first student to question him brought up his admitted extramarital affair and accused him of being “hypocritical” for espousing moral values.

“You adamantly oppose gay rights … but you’ve also been married three times and admitted to having an affair with your current wife while you were still married to your second,” Isabel Friedman, president of Penn Democrats, said to Gingrich. “As a successful politician who’s considering running for president, who would set the bar for moral conduct and be the voice of the American people, how do you reconcile this hypocritical interpretation of the religious values that you so vigorously defend?”

Newt responded:

“I’ll bet almost everybody here can gather the thrust of your question,” he said. “I appreciate the delicacy and generosity in the way it was framed. … I hope you feel better about yourself.”

“I’ve had a life which, on occasion, has had problems,” he added. “I believe in a forgiving God, and the American people will have to decide whether [that's] their primary concern. If the primary concern of the American people is my past, my candidacy would be irrelevant. If the primary concern of the American people is the future … that’s a debate I’ll be happy to have with your candidate or any other candidate if I decide to run.”

Friedman is a Democrat and she obviously wanted to embarrass Gingrich. Nonetheless, the number of social conservatives who I’ve met, both at CPAC and online, who’ve said that they will not support Gingrich in part because of his personal morality is quite large. Fiscal conservatives have similarly lost patience with Gingrich over his support for this like Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind, and TARP. Without support from those two wings of the party, I can’t see how Gingrich’s run for office is anything other than an exercise in vanity.

From the Shark Tank comes the following confrontation at a town hall meeting where CAIR confronted Congressman Allen West and failed miserably. It is a perfect example of don’t ask for things, they might just come true. Or in this case, get an answer that you cannot come back from.

At a townhall meeting hosted by Congressman Allen West on Monday evening in Pompano Beach, the Q&A segment of the meeting featured a Koran wielding Nezar Hamze, Executive Director of the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR).  Hamze confronted Congressman West and asked him to point out where in the Koran does it give marching orders to Muslims “to carry out attacks against Americans and innocent people”.  West quickly pointed out that the Koran was written long before America even existed and that it does indeed tell believers to kill infidels,

Last night during a speech in Philadelphia, former House Speaker and potential presidential candidate Newt Gingrich (R) was confronted about the contradiction of opposing marriage equality while repeatedly disregarding his own marriage vows. The former speaker seemed to suggest that the real victims of intolerance are Christians, before going on to say that the mistakes he has made in his private life are irrelevant in the larger public policy debate:

ISABEL FRIEDMAN: You adamantly oppose gay rights… but you’ve also been married three times and admitted to having an affair with your current wife while you were still married to your second… As a successful politician who’s considering running for president, who would set the bar for moral conduct and be the voice of the American people, how do you reconcile this hypocritical interpretation of the religious values that you so vigorously defend?

GINGRICH: I hope you feel better about yourself…the fascist behavior I described was an older woman wearing a cross and I think if you go back and read the news accounts, it was explicitly fascist behavior and if you look at things that have been done to churches, it’s explicitly fascist behavior and frankly if you look at the recent tearing down of the cross in Mojave Desert, in my judgment, that is the kind of anti-religious behavior [...]

I’ve had a life which, on occasion, has had problems. I believe in a forgiving God, and the American people will have to decide whether that their primary concern. If the primary concern of the American people is my past, my candidacy would be irrelevant. If the primary concern of the American people is the future. They have to decide who can effectively get us to a future in which we are economically prosperous, military safe, and maximize freedom. That’s a debate I’ll be happy to have with your candidate or any other candidate if I decide to run.

Watch it (via Towleroad):

The hypocrisy of Gingrich’s answer is hard to bear: he’s suggesting that his private sexual transgressions have no effect on the larger policy issues facing the country, while holding the position that same-sex marriages threaten American families and must therefore be outlawed.

Gingrich has previously claimed, “There is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it.” He has described Judge Vaughn Walker’s decision to overturn Proposition 8 as “an outrageous disrespect for our Constitution and for the majority of people of the United States who believe marriage is the union of husband and wife.”

In an interview with right-winger John Lofton, Gingrich claimed, “you have to” believe “homosexuality is a sin,” adding, “I think that if you believe the Bible then it’s fairly clear.” Though he said he didn’t “want to be judgmental about others,” Gingrich stated he opposes the right of gay people to marry or adopt children.

Nezar Hamze, CAIR’s Executive Director tried to sandbag retired Lt. Col, Rep. Allen West on the subject of radical Islam at a townhall meeting in Pompano Beach. Big, big mistake.

This Muslim Brotherhood shill confronted Congressman West and asked him to point out where in the Qu’ran it gives orders to Muslims “to carry out attacks against Americans and innocent people.”

After pointing out that the Koran was written long before America even existed, West cited chapter and Surah from the Qu’ran and then proceeding to list a whole catalog of Muslims acts carrying out exactly what it says in Suras 2-9…where it does indeed tell believers to kill and enslave infidels.

West then mentioned Fort Hood and his own battlefield experiences hearing our country’s enemies yelling ‘Allah Akbar!’ and told Hamze not to “try to blow sunshine up my butt.”

When Hamze played th eIslamophobia card, West trumped him by reminding Hamze that he had put his life on the line on the battle field to liberate Muslims.

The crowd’s response is also quite entertaining.

You don’t mess with Colonel West.

West quickly pointed out that the Koran was written long before America even existed and that it does indeed tell believers to kill infidels, and then proceeded to chronicle a lengthy list of historical Muslim acts of aggression.  Congressman West closed his retort by referencing the Fort Hood shootings and 9-11 attacks, saying that his first hand experiences on the battlefield has given him insight into the tactics that Islamists use before telling Hamze not to “try to blow sunshine up my butt” with his criticism of him. West took offense to Hamze’s amateurish criticism of his stance on radical Islam and concluded by telling Mr. Hamze to “put the microphone down and go home.”

How many Muslim immigrants should the West admit? As I argued in Stealth Jihad in 2008, no more — because the more who come, the more demands there will be for accommodation of Sharia provisions in the West. And as we saw when Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange struck down Oklahoma’s anti-Sharia law, Americans generally remain abysmally ignorant of the political, authoritarian, oppressive and supremacist elements of Sharia. And Western multiculturalists, including the feminists Kevin Myers righteously skewers here, remain silent about those oppressive aspects of Sharia, because to speak up would be “racist.”

“Muslim girls are covertly prepared for forced marriage. Yet the feminists stay silent,” by Kevin Myers in the Irish Independent, January 6 (thanks to Benedict):

YOU really can take your pick from the interconnected headlines of the past fortnight: the church-massacres of Christians in Egypt and Iraq by al-Qa’ida, and the murder of the governor of the Punjab, followed by a petition of support for his killer from 500 “moderate” Islamic scholars in Pakistan.

Closer to home there were the terrorist conspiracies in Denmark, Sweden and Britain, and the revelation that while the Christian population in Britain fell by two million in four years, the Muslim population there increased by 74pc to 2.9 million since 2001 (yes, the very year when Islamophobia supposedly became endemic). [...]

This is unquestionably a major issue for western (once-Christian) civilisations: how many immigrants should they admit? The even more important issue, concealed in the Greek government’s wall-plan, is this: how many Muslim immigrants can any society take, and yet retain the qualities that made it attractive to Muslims in the first place?…

And of course, if the immigrants then conform with local norms — as British Hindus and Sikhs have usually done — then there is usually no long-term problem. The result is a cultural enrichment and fusion in which everyone gains.

This is simply not true of Muslim immigration. Not merely is there not a single stable, prosperous Muslim democracy in the world, free of terrorism and fundamentalism, there is no society that has received large numbers of Muslims that has not soon been confronted by an Islamic defiance of existing societal norms. This defiance can be cultural, in which dissident dress code is sought as a religious right; or educational, in which Muslims are raised within their own autonomous school system; or legal, with a demand for Sharia law; or insurrectionary, in which local Muslims opt for terrorist jihad against the state which admitted them.

No European country — not one — that has admitted large numbers of Muslims has been spared any of these outcomes.

No European country — not one — that has admitted Hindus has had to face any comparable problem.

THE EU’s response has been to ignore what it finds uncongenial to talk about, as meanwhile dogmatic “multiculturalists” silence sceptics with the perverse gagging laws that have arisen in every European country. These make it almost impossible for Europeans to defend European values without being called “racist” or an “Islamophobe”.

Perversity then heaps upon perversity, because the political group that has most to lose from the political triumph of Islam, feminism, is totally silent at its inroads. Somali girls are circumcised; polygamous Muslim men are given state-allowances for all their wives and children; and subordinate gynaecostans are created for women in British cities, in which the burqa (body covering), hijab (head covering) and niqab (face veil) are becoming almost mandatory. Meanwhile, girls are covertly being withdrawn from education and prepared for forced marriage. Yet the feminists stay silent.

It might very well be that Islam, with its unapologetic determination to spread its norms wherever it goes, will prove to be the more robust and vigorous civilisation. So be it. In which case, might the 128-mile Greek Wall not simply join the Maginot Line and the Great Wall of China as yet another historically doomed defensive line? Well, not quite.

There is still a China, still a France. But what about the great Graeco-Roman Christian civilisations that once existed across Asia Minor and North Africa, from Anatolia through Syria and Tunisia and on to Casablanca, and which failed to defend themselves against militant Islam? What remains of them? The remains remain.

And so shall Europe and America become, unless they wake up to what is happening.

From The National,  Michel Hayek, the Middle East’s answer to Nostradamus predicts that President Barack Obama will be confronted with situations “never faced by previous presidents”in 2011. Michel Hayek also predicted Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be “caught on camera broken and devastated.”

The American president Barack Obama got several mentions, with him facing situations “never faced by previous presidents”, and how Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, will be “caught on camera broken and devastated”.

Airports in the US will witness renewed terrorist attempts “due to unknown weak points” and Iran’s streets will be packed in the way not seen since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. He predicted the Iranian opposition will lose one of its important figures.

Remember when Biden said that this administration said it would be tested within the first 6 months? Joe might have got the time frame wrong, but did he get the predicted testing correct?

Mark my words. Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking …  to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”(Joe Biden)

More predictions at The Hill, an assassination in the Middle East that will be hailed as the crime of the century, a “major disturbance or shake up in the waters at the Strait of Hormuz and Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates will jump into politics.

So what type of incident has  ”never faced by previous presidents” … the thoughts are chilling.

Are Muslims unwilling to accord others the same rights they demand for themselves? From the Pak Tribune, highlighting the tolerance of American Christians and Jews and sharply criticizing the Taliban, the Saudis and Muslim ‘apartheid’ toward other religions, this article by columnist and former Pakistan Air Force pilot Anwaar Hussain argues that it’s time Muslims looked in the mirror before complaining about the injustices practiced by members of other religions.

For the Pak Tribune, Anwaar Hussain writes in small part:

Someone needed to say this, so here it is.

We huff and puff in a self-righteous rage over the refusal of a few in the US of A to allow the building of a mosque near Ground Zero. Particularly for the bigots on either side, the issue has become so all-consuming that it’s hard to distinguish their collective voice from one continuous, high-pitched, piercing blare.

Quite a few on my mailing list enthusiastically forwarded me an amazing article written by Michael Moore (yes, of Fahrenheit 9/11 fame) titled as, If This Mosque isn’t Built, This is no Longer America. In this stunning piece, Michael Moore wants the mosque built “not two blocks from Ground Zero” but “on Ground Zero.” He goes on to give a long list of reasons for this. What really stumped me in Michael’s write-up was that since the beginning, according to him, it has been the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan whose rabbi has been helping the New York Muslim community in their quest.

And I thought the Jews were our worst enemies.

Bang in the middle of this controversy, other dazzling news was almost drowned out. According to a Christian Science Monitor report, the hundred thousand strong Muslim community of the Italian city of Milan are pushing for building the first-ever mosque in that city. And who is their most steadfast ally in this quest? Lo and behold, it’s none other than the Vatican itself. Says Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi, the Catholic Church’s highest authority in Milan, “Milan civil institutions must guarantee everyone religious freedom,” and “Muslims have the right to practice their faith.”

All power to the Muslim communities in New York and Milan - and Michael Moore and Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi, but where does that leave ordinary Muslims like me? I’m all confused. I thought these people could never be friends with Muslims. That, as a matter fact, is an article of faith with us Muslims. I appeal to the paragons of moral consistency to now come to my aid. And pronto please. What’s happening? Someone please reassure me that these friendly gestures are actually more “Judeo-Christian conspiracies” against us Muslims. And if they are, what exactly are we going to do about them? Refuse the help or refuse building the mosques?

Later, in a very interesting exposition about how the Saudis treat non-believers, Hussain writes in part:

Not allowed to practice their faith openly, Christians are forced to worship secretly in private homes. Even articles and symbols like Bibles, crucifixes, statues, carvings, items with religious icons, etc. are prohibited. The government doesn’t permit non-Muslim clergy to enter the country for the purpose of conducting religious services. In that country, blood money for the accidental death of a Christian male is half as much as that for a Muslim (lucky, one would say, because all others i.e. Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs etc. are valued at 1/16th the amount).

You know when you know when you are dealing with an unhinged, snarky Leftist … when they start the conversation with “You swore on your precious Bible”.Thus began the conversation between Sarah Palin and this snarky, presumed school teacher in Homer, Alaska. Our instinct was correct as you will read below the fold … as we have learned in dealing with the Left, they are never what they claim to be.

Oh what tangled webs we weave, when we practice to deceive.

From The Politico:

Sarah Palin was involved in a brief argument over the weekend with an Alaska teacher over her decision to leave her post as governor of Alaska halfway through her term.

The dustup occurred in Homer, Alaska, where Palin appeared over the weekend to film part of her coming television series on TLC.

Palin was greeted in the town by Kathleen Gustafson, a self-identified teacher, who was holding a sign that read: “Worst Governor Ever.”

After seeing the sign, Palin walked over to speak to Gustafson. The video is spreading quickly Monday on several liberal blogs.

“You swore on your precious Bible that you would uphold the interests of this state, and then when cash was waved in front of your face, you quit,” Gustafson told Palin after the former governor walked over to ask, “What’s up?”

“Oh, you wanted me to be your governor,” Palin responded, sarcastically retorting, “I’m honored! Thank you!”

Gustafson then accused Palin of being more interested in “becoming a celebrity” than being involved in the “political process.”

In response, Palin tried to explain that now that she is no longer governor, she is free to be “out there fighting for Americans to be able to have a Constitution protected so that we can have free speech.”

As Weasel Zippers states, “looks like Sarah has lost the snarky school teacher vote”.

UPDATE I: Sarah Palin comments on Face Book on the “lame stream media” response:

The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I – wait for it – “appear to roll my eyes” when the lady tells me she’s a teacher. Yes, it’s come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe that’s why Botox is all the rage – if you can’t move your eyebrows, your “eye rolling” can’t be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would “roll my eyes” at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.

One good thing to come out of this little episode, though, is that it helps to remind people once again that Alaska is a great state full of independent-minded people. I look forward to introducing you to some of them in the forthcoming documentary series on life in Alaska! The show will remind you to get outdoors, breathe in God’s creation, and taste the freedom!

- Sarah Palin

UPDATE II: Remember the so-called teacher … turns out she is quite some thing different than she stated, from the Gateway Pundit. What, some one on the Left lie and pretend they are some thing they are not … NEVER!

It’s just too bad she’s not a teacher.
Kathleen Gustafson is a singer in a drag queen band.

HOMER TRIBUNE/Randi Somers) – Director Kathleen Gustafson (left) steps in to provide harmony as Hedwig (Atz Lee Kilcher) polishes up his performance at Pier One on Aug. 28.

Kathleen Guftafson is not a teacher. She’s a theater tech… And a liar.

You just can’t make this stuff up.

Teacher eh? Here is another Kathleen Gustafson.

Looks like the woman, Kathleen Gustafson, is a liar. As we find on GatewayPundit, she isn’t a teacher but a theater tech. Even more absurdly, the woman belongs to a band that features drag queens as its attraction!

Another blogger whose blog is named Mac’sMind did some digging and the only Kathleen Gustafson he could find connected to the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District works in the theater dept. as a tech.
